Please contact us if you are interested in joining or if you wish to try your hand at bowling.

Warm Welcome

New members of all standards are always welcomed at Maiden Erlegh Bowling Club. Whether you have played previously or would just like to see if bowls is for you we will be pleased to see you.

​

If you are new to the game you can contact us to "have a go" and you'll only need some "flat soled" shoes (trainers are generally fine). We have a few sets of bowls available and the coaches will help you not only choose the correct size but also give you some basic instructions on the green.

We are pleased to offer non-members free taster sessions before applying to join the club.

​

Coaching

We offer coaching sessions throughout the season to help new members develop their technique and one-to-one assistance can be arranged when you want to improve a particular aspect of your game. For experienced players we run dedicated classes on more advanced aspects of bowls including reading the head and marking.

Clothing & Equipment

Apart from during the introductory sessions, only regulation bowls shoes are allowed on the green. Should you choose to join, there is a Dress Code for matches but this is relaxed for certain events during the first year of membership. There are places to buy bowling equipment in the Reading area.

Subscriptions

We offer a range of Membership Fees from Social to Full Player. There is a one-off joining fee of £15. Details are available by contacting the Membership Secretary on the Contact Us page.
