Message from the Vice President
After the coldest winter for some time, the green, now in the third year of employment of outside contractors, is looking good and we anticipate an enjoyable and competitive season.
We have a number of new members and anticipate a successful outcome of our forthcoming OPEN DAY on Sunday May 9th for new and experienced bowlers to come and savour our game.
GREEN ON LOAN
On a number of occasions when we don't have matches we are making our facilities available to outside organisations. The earnings from these events boost our funds but members help is needed to provide the food, man the bar and set out the equipment on the green.
CLUB TOUR.
The summer tour this year is to Bournemouth from 25th July to 1st August. A few places remain available.
ANNUAL DINNER.
The Annual Prize Giving Dinner and Dance last year was well supported and enjoyed by all who attended. Make a note in you diary for this year's event Friday 12th November at the Sonning Golf Club.
COACHING
Jean Pound and Graham Berry will again be running their successful coaching sessions on Tuesdays from 12.30 to 2.00 giving help to all whether novice or experienced.
LOCKERS
Pam Stoneham will continue to allocate the limited number of lockers in the MEBC'S locker/changing room. New members should contact Pam as soon as possible.
100 CLUB
All members are urged to subscribe to the "100 Club" which is being run by Gary Bailey and Keith Evans. This makes an important contribution to our funds and offers members an opportunity to win prizes throughout the year.
SALES TABLE
Thanks to Sylvia Burbage and Jeanette Rollison the Sales Table made a sizeable contribution to our funds last year but needs quality items donated by members to be successful.
I would ask members to give their Captains every support and make themselves available by signing the team sheets and helping in the running of the Club when needed. Friendly matches are a key source of revenue and help to keep subscriptions low.
I wish you all a happy and enjoyable season and look forward to welcoming you on opening day Sunday 25th April.
